Expressing serious concerns at the pendency of cases in the country, the Supreme Court on Friday issued a slew of directions to ensure the speedy disposal of cases. The 12 directions issued by the bench of Justices S Ravindra Bhat and Aravind Kumar to high courts for ensuring speedy trial and to monitor the disposal of cases are as follows:

The Secretary General of the Supreme Court was directed to circulate the judgment to all high courts. In conclusion, the bench also said that more directions may be issued in the future. "It is also made clear that further directions for implementation of the above directions would be issued from time to time, if necessary, and as may be directed by this court," the order reads.
