NEET PG| Supreme Court Directs Publication Of Raw Score, Answer Keys And Normalization Formula Of NEET-PG Exam

22 May 2025, 09:57 AM

The Supreme Court has directed that the raw scores, answer keys and normalisation formulae of NEET-PG examinations must be published.

This was one among the slew of directions issued by a bench comprising Justice JB Pardiwala and J R Mahadevan to ensure transparency in the counselling process and to prevent the malpractice of seat-blocking.

"Publish raw scores, answer keys and normalization formulae for transparency in multi-shift NEET-PG exams," the Court ordered.

Notably, under the system of normalisation of marks, the exam papers have a different set of questions for different dates of the same exam. To neutralise the effect of tougher or easier papers, a normalisation formula is applied in calculating the scores. The merit list and ranking is based upon the normalisation formula applied.

These directions were issued while deciding an appeal filed by the State of UP against a 2018 direction of the Allahabad High Court.

Notably, other writ petitions filed by NEET-PG candidates are pending in the Supreme Court seeking directions to pubish answer keys and normalisation of NEET-PG exam. Those petitions are presently listed before a bench of CJI Gavai and Justice AG Masih.
