Chief Justice of India BR Gavai on Sunday expressed displeasure that the Maharashtra Chief Secretary, DGP or Mumbai Police Commissioner didn't meet him on his first visit to his home state as the CJI.
He was attending a ceremony organised by the Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa at Mumbai to felicitate his recent appointment as the Chief Justice of India.
CJI Gavai, while saying that he usually doesn't believe in "protocol", added, "Every organ of the Constitution must reciprocate and give respect to the other organ of the Constitution. When the son of this State, who has become the CJI comes to Maharashtra for the first time, if the State's Chief Secretary, Commissioner of Police etc do not want to attend the event, that is best left on their wisdom."
"I do not want to focus on all these small issues but just wanted to point this out," he said while concluding his speech.
